Frequently asked questions
Account and data
Do I need to sign up or log in?
No. LYRA has no accounts. Your library, lyrics cache, playlists and settings are stored only on your device. See Account information for details.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Playlists, lyrics you edited and settings stored on the device are deleted with it. Your music files and .lrc files stay.
Music and library
My songs do not show up in the list.
On Android, tap Settings → Library → Rescan device or pull down on Home to refresh. You need to allow access to audio files, and files shorter than 20 seconds are skipped as notification sounds. On iPhone, bring files in with Settings → Library → Import songs and .lrc files, or put them in the LYRA folder with Finder file sharing and tap Rescan LYRA folder.
Where do I change playback speed or the sleep timer?
Playback speed is in Settings → Playback speed. The sleep timer is in the player under More → Sleep timer. The equalizer is in Settings → Equalizer.
Lyrics
Lyrics do not appear automatically.
LYRA looks for a .lrc file with the same name, lyrics embedded in the song, and then LRCLIB (an open lyrics database), in that order. Check that Find lyrics online is on in Settings → Lyrics. If the title or artist tags are empty or wrong, the search may fail. Try More → Search lyrics in the player to search by hand and apply a result.
I want to find lyrics for many songs at once.
In Settings → Lyrics → Lyrics library, tap Find missing lyrics to search the songs without lyrics one by one. Requests are spaced out to be kind to LRCLIB, so a large library takes a while.
Lyrics are not found on mobile data.
By default, online search runs on any connection, including mobile data. Turn on Settings → Lyrics → Wi-Fi only to restrict it to Wi-Fi. Lyrics already on your device (.lrc, embedded or saved lyrics) are shown regardless of this setting.
The lyrics belong to another song or are wrong.
In the player, pick another candidate with More → Search lyrics, or fix the text yourself with More → Edit or paste lyrics. Lyrics you picked or edited are never overwritten automatically. To search again from scratch, tap More → Find lyrics again automatically; to delete them, tap More → Remove lyrics. Lyrics are made by the LRCLIB community and their accuracy is not guaranteed.
Lyrics run ahead of or behind the song.
Use the Sync controls on the player's lyrics view to move the lyrics earlier or later (up to ±10 seconds, saved per song). Tap Reset to undo. Changing the lyrics text resets the adjustment to 0.
I want to repeat a single line or a section.
In the player, long-press a line of synced lyrics to repeat it. Long-press another line to extend the section; long-press a line inside it or tap Stop repeating (✕) at the top to turn it off. This works with synced lyrics only.
Translation and pronunciation
How do I turn on translation or pronunciation?
Go to Settings → Translation and reading and turn on Show translation and Show pronunciation. Translation is available only when the lyrics language differs from the target language. For Chinese, choose Pinyin or Hangul under Chinese pronunciation. Everything is processed on your device.
Japanese pronunciation does not appear on Android.
The first time you turn on pronunciation for a Japanese song, the Japanese dictionary is downloaded from Google Play (Wi-Fi required; check the status in the Japanese dictionary row). If you installed the app outside Google Play (a directly installed APK), Japanese pronunciation is not available.
Translation does not appear on iPhone.
Translation is supported on iOS 18 and later only. The system downloads the language pack, and a translation, once computed, is saved and shown right away next time. Pronunciation still works on iOS 17 and earlier.
Floating and lock screen lyrics
I want lyrics over other apps. (Android)
Turn on Show over other apps in Settings → Floating lyrics. The first time, allow the "Display over other apps" permission. Drag the window to move it; long-press to lock it (Click-through) so touches pass to the app underneath. You can also use More → Show floating lyrics in the player.
I want lyrics on the lock screen. (iPhone)
Turn on Live Activity in Settings → Lock screen lyrics. When playback starts, the current lyric line appears on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island (supported models). Live Activities must be allowed in system settings.
Ads
How do I remove ads?
Go to Settings → Remove ads and make the one-time in-app purchase. It is not a subscription; after paying once, the banners on Home and in the player disappear. The price is shown on the store's purchase screen.
I bought Remove ads but banners came back / I have a new phone.
If you reinstalled the App or changed devices, sign in with the same store account (Apple ID or Google account) you bought with, then tap Settings → Remove ads → Restore purchases. You need an internet connection, and a different account or a refunded purchase cannot be restored. If it still does not work, contact us with your store receipt details. Purchases are verified through the store and RevenueCat (anonymous ID), so purchase records exist at Apple or Google and at RevenueCat. To have them deleted, email [email protected].
I see ads.
LYRA is free and shows a banner ad at the bottom. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, and only non-personalized ads are requested.
